Mountain Ridge

Wanting a more minimal, clean look to the landscaping, our work focused on replacing many of the weathering stone walls in the front yard with steel retaining walls, as well as optimizing the drainage along the house facade to function better for the foundation in the long term. In the backyard space, we used welded plate steel to retain a lueder stone patio, and used additional terraces for a layered, planted aesthetic. In order to utilize the lower terrace, we placed a decomposed granite fire pit lounge with string lights for a fun night-time hangout space. The clumping bamboo will give privacy over time, while the Japanese maple provides great fall color, and the remaining planting was chosen with lower maintenance in mind. One of our favorite details of this project is how the lueder stone step edges jut out just slightly from the steel of the steps.
